Searching for the perfect dress can be torture; it can take ages and in some cases can ruin the whole party you are getting ready for. So, the next step after deciding that you need a new dress is planning the hunt for it. Here are some smart shopping tips for your search.
- At least one week before the planned event start picturing in your mind the type of dress you would like to wear on that day. Pay attention to what you see in the windows of different boutiques, watch or read news about fashion trends. When you go shopping you need to have a clear image of what you want to buy.
- Take your time. Take a whole free day in order to avoid having the pressure of time set in your mind. If you are in a hurry, you will buy the first thing you like, which may not come out to be the best choice.
- Shop alone. You need to rely only on your opinion and not depend on anyone. Only your style and taste count and you shouldn’t be influenced by those of someone else. If you need critique from a friend, just show her the dress after you have chosen it, so she doesn’t see all the other dresses you had tried on and can give an objective opinion.
- Don’t be confused by how great the dresses look on manikins. Not that many women have the “perfect body” of manikins, so you have to judge only according to how it suits you.
- Don’t buy a smaller sized dress or one that is too tight, hoping that you will lose some weight before the planned event. Always buy a dress which suits you the moment you try it on.
- Dress appropriately for shopping — wear comfortable clothes and shoes, which will allow you to walk long, BUT have appropriate underwear and shoes to put on when trying on the dress, so you can imagine how you will look on the big day.
- Imagine that the big event is today and ask yourself the question “Would I wear this dress tonight?” If the answer is no, then don’t buy the dress.
- Buy only the dress which suits you perfectly.
Good luck on the dress hunt.
