Taste Zinfandel WineOne of the  favorite types of a cellar wine that is much appreciated by wine connoisseurs is Zinfandel. It is also referred to as Zinfindal, Crljenak, Primitivo (in Italy)  and Black St. Peter (in the United States).

Zinfandel has a spicy and fruity  taste. You can enjoy it with pizza, burgers and thick red sauces. Also try it with mozzarella cheese, red onion, prosciutto and pesto.

You can buy Zinfandel wine online. A wide variety of Zinfandel wines is available in online stores. Many people’s choice is Baron Herzog White Zinfandel ’08. It is a light, semi-dry wine with notes of cranberry and strawberry.

You can also make Zinfandel wine at home.

You will need red Zinfandel grapes which are used to make white as well as red wine. The Zinfandel grapes should be removed from their stalks and must be rinsed well using cold water. Grapes should be crushed and put in a large jar.  Take four to six eggs,  separate and discard the yolks, and whip the egg whites. Then pour the whipped egg whites into the jar with the grapes. Next, 4 lbs of sugar, 4 oz of yeast, 1 lb of wheat and 3 gallons of water should be added to the jar. All these ingredients should be mixed well. For 21 days the contents should be mixed, once every day.

On the 22nd day add 4 lbs of sugar into the jar, then close it, letting it rest for an additional 21 days. After the 21st day pour the wine through a nylon cloth, which acts as a filter for particles, into another jar. After you do that, you can start drinking the wine.

Enjoy your Zinfandel wine!
