Getting a present is always pleasant, but giving one is even more so, especially if it’s a handmade item.
One may prefer making handmade cards for special occasions, while someone else may be fond of handcrafted earrings or even knitting hats like my own mother does.
My hobby is crocheting, and I always have some spare crocheted items to present someone. But if I know beforehand and have enough time, I will crochet something unique for a person celebrating a special occasion with great pleasure. To create something so personal, I always need to have the appropriate crochet hooks handy.
It won’t be difficult to use the right hook if you already know some basic information. First of all one must know that crochet hooks are mainly made from wood, bamboo, plastic or aluminium. The first two are not so cheap but generally are very nice and have art decorated handles. Plastic hooks are widely used and cheap, but they have the disadvantage of breaking very often. Aluminium hooks are considered to be the most usable and convenient ones by many crocheters.
An important thing to consider for crochet hooks is the hook size. Whether you’re making a crochet sweater or a creative tablecloth you will need different yarns, thus the need for a particularly sized hook will arise, too. The hook sizes vary from 14 to 0, and the smaller the number the larger the hook. There are special size conversion tables that will help you figure out which hook to use.
Consider the right hook and yarn for making original items and surprise your loved ones by presenting meaningful handmade gifts to them.
