A lot of people collect something in their lives. But a considerable number of people’s hobby is collecting dolls. Currently doll collecting is considered the second biggest hobby in the United States (after stamp collecting).
There are so many types of dolls to collect, such as Barbie dolls, vintage dolls, ethnic dolls, cloth dolls, artist dolls and antique dolls.
Many doll collectors prefer vintage Barbie dolls. Vintage Barbie dolls are expensive. If you collect vintage dolls while purchasing one you should check some important things.
Notice the skin tone of the vintage barbie doll. The doll should have a beautiful and even skin tone. Also see how original, fresh and complete is the face paint of the vintage Barbie doll. Make sure that the doll’s lips, eyebrows, nose dots, blush, eyeliner, fingers and toe nails are painted originally and brightly.
Make sure that there are not any pinpricks or splits on the doll’s neck or legs. Don’t forget to check if the hair of the doll is in its original set. It’s not desirable to buy one with missing hair plugs.
Test that the limbs of the vintage Barbie doll bend easily. Also make sure that the head matches the body. Sometimes a Barbie’s head and body do not match.
And finally you should know that a Barbie should come in a box or have original packaging.
